My name is Valerie Ignatenko, and I am a licensed psychologist. My career began over 20 years ago when I worked in a city environment doing crisis work and case management. I have had experiences in various mental health settings, including hospital settings, residential, outpatient settings, and community based settings prior to continuing my education.. I completed my doctoral training at West Virginia University, and have provided psychological services to a diverse groups of people.
I offer a calm, supportive space where you can feel safe, understood, and accepted just as you are. Using CBT and EMDR, I help clients gently connect the mind and body, make sense of patterns, and work through experiences that feel overwhelming. Therapy is a collaborative process where we move at your pace, building trust, insight, and tools to support healing and meaningful change.
I am a strong advocate for individuals who feel misunderstood, marginalized, or impacted by stigma. I work with adults who are ready to stop suffering in silence and begin the process of healing and recovery from mental health concerns and/or substance use disorders.
I am an experienced therapist helping individual clients cope with addictions, trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I also work with couples on common struggles such as conflict resolution, lack of connection, and reduced physical intimacy. I use evidence-based methods enabling clients to achieve their desired goals.
I have worked with individuals, couples, Veterans, and families struggling with mental health issues for over 20 years. I have worked extensively in peoples homes, in hospital settings and now private practice. These experiences have taught me to meet everyone where they are in the moment and be able to help them make sense of their unique story
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, lost, or weighed down, know that you’re not alone — and you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. Whether you’re facing something new or have been struggling for a long time, I’m here to listen with compassion and help you find your way forward. Together, we’ll explore what’s been holding you back and build tools to ease the pain, manage emotions, and reclaim your sense of peace.
I am a Pennsylvania-licensed psychologist with 23 years of counseling experience with adults of all ages, from late-adolescence and across the lifespan.
My practice focuses on helping individuals develop personally meaningful ways of navigating anxiety and depression, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, time-of-life transitions, and identity development. These therapeutic partnerships often involve identity-affirming explorations of racial, ethnic, LGBTQIA, and neuro-diversity matters within clients’ lives.
Helping clients feels safe, regarded, and at ease... I work hard to understand what each individual needs from me to feel these things at the forefront of our relationship.
I feel really confident in my empathic attunement toward clients as I authentically connect with each individual. I prioritize creating a shared space of sincerity as clients begin telling me their stories.
And what an honor it is, helping clients share their narratives in a manner that highlights their courage and resilience, as well as their yearning and needs.
As we begin to explore and understand all of these things, we hone in on each client’s inner resources and external supports — identifying these things and figuring out how each individual client can feel most empowered in themselves.
