After the Air Force I graduated from Nicholls State University in Louisiana as an RN, I then joined the Navy Nurse Corps. In my 20yr career I have worked in-patient psychiatry, post-surgical, oncology (three different settings), home infusions, and a private physicians office. While in NP school, I worked as an in-patient staff nurse at Harris County Psychiatric Center. My special interests are in adolescents, eating disorders, and PTSD (esp veterans).
Michael M. Zavala, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC is a Texas and New Mexico based Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner focused on holistic integrative psychiatry.
I help adults experiencing obesity, anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, and burnout/moral injury rediscover their sense of excitement and engagement with work, loved ones, and life by offering a specialized approach for those motivated to uncover the root cause of their symptoms, with medication as an option, NOT the only option.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a background in nursing across a range of mental health settings, including outpatient care and higher-acuity environments. My training has focused on assessing, diagnosing, and treating conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders, and substance use, using both medication management and psychotherapy. I completed advanced graduate education in psychiatric-mental health nursing, which prepared me to provide holistic, evidence-based care across the lifespan and to collaborate closely with other members of the treatment team.
Hi, I’m Dr. Aminah Abdikadir, DNP, PMHNP-BC. I’ve spent nearly a decade helping individuals improve their mental health through inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth care. I believe in a holistic approach that looks at the whole person mind, body, and environment to create lasting change. If you’re the one everyone depends on but you feel anxious, burned out, or emotionally drained, you don’t have to keep pushing through alone. I work with adults who are high-functioning on the outside but overwhelmed on the inside, especially women, professionals, parents, caregivers, and veterans navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, burnout, and major life transitions.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and over 20 years of experience across diverse healthcare settings. As a veteran, I bring personal understanding of military culture and chronic stress. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and judgment-free, blending evidence-based medication management with supportive, real-world conversation.
