My own experiences with grief and loss eventually led me to do this work. I have a background working in inpatient palliative care where I learned to support patients with serious illness. My experience has helped me understand navigating the medical system and supporting individuals who are experiencing illness and loss. As a Latina of Mexican-American descent, I also see clients who prefer to do sessions in Spanish.
Life can be unpredictable, filled with moments of stress, uncertainty, and past hurts that hold us back. Drawing on my background as a retired member of the U.S. Air Force, I bring discipline, commitment, and a compassionate understanding of life's challenges to my practice. As a husband and father of four, I know firsthand the importance of building strong, supportive relationships and nurturing a sense of connection and purpose. My journey in higher education began with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2019, followed by earning a Master’s in Social Work from Walden University in 2022.
Additionally, being EMDR trained and well-versed in a variety of therapeutic approaches allows me to customize treatment plans that address your unique needs, whether you're dealing with anxiety, trauma, or relationship challenges.

Hello, and welcome to my page! I am Catherine, however most people just call me Cat. I understand life can be challenging, full of ups and downs, and that change is difficult to manage! I want you to know that you are not alone, I am here for you, and together we can make it through! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and I have worked as a therapist within the mental health profession since 2007. I have a bachelor’s degree in social work from Appalachian State University and a master’s degree in social work from The University of South Carolina in Columbia. I love working with people and coming along beside them as a support through life's up's and down's. I have experiencing working in many different settings with individuals and families who have a variety of personal issues such as life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, stress management, grief and loss, relationship issues, domestic violence, divorce care, spirituality, stress, anger management, family conflict, parenting, foster care support, overcoming conflict and challenges, and life coaching. I would describe my approach as empathetic, supportive, and person centered. I often use techniques that are derived from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Therapy, and Trauma Focused Therapy when working with individuals and families. Together, we will identify your current needs and/or challenges and work together to create goals and identify treatment techniques that will help you reach your desired outcome. Through my years in counseling, I have learned that one of the most important factors of success is making a connection and feelings comfortable with the person you choose to work with. In addition, I feel like you are the expert of your life and you have the answers within yourself; however sometimes it take someone coming along beside you to provide the support needed to help guide you to find those answers. I would love to get to know you and to have the opportunity to be a support for you through this journey called life!

Hi, I'm Christian, a Licensed Clinician Social Worker, eldest daughter, and proud first-gen Latina.
I have been a Social Worker for 30 years! That's crazy for me to think about because I am not THAT old......and I have learned a lot (about myself) along the way. I have learned that I do like to talk to people more than I let on. I have learned that I can be very patient listener and I give good feedback. And, I have learned that, at some point, we all have to make changes in our lives and that can be scary. I have also learned it's not as scary when we talk about it out loud........just saying.
