I am Franchesca Ali (DNP, PMHNP-BC), a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing wholistic care to adults. I offer medication management and psychiatric evaluations. My practice specialties include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, OCD, mood disorders, insomnia, peri-partum, college mental health, life transitions, and burn-out. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Columbia University, along with a Psychiatric Certification from Hunter College in New York.
I provide therapeutic support for children ages 4-18, Parenting support, and young adulthood (18-30 yrs old). I specialize in symptoms of anxiety, depression, oppositional behaviors, parenting strategies, trauma, ADHD, social anxieties, and major life transitions (family changes, going to college, and career changes). Therapies used include DBT, CBT, MATCH, TF-CBT, MST concepts, Parent Training Management, Motivational Interviewing, play therapy interventions, and talk/processing therapy.
Therapy shouldn't feel like a one-size-fits-all experience—because, let’s be honest, life is messy, and we’re all figuring it out as we go. I believe in meeting you exactly where you are (no judgment, no pressure) and providing support that’s tailored to you. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where you can work toward whatever version of ‘thriving’ feels right for you. I have extensive experience working with individuals navigating eating disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, and major life transitions—so if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need someone to help you untangle the chaos, I’m here to help.
I am a New York state licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience. I specialize in working with college-aged young adults who struggle with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression and life transitions as well as academic, social and relationship issues. I have expertise working with student-athletes to support their emotional well-being and promote positive athletic performance.
I believe that people are shaped by their relationships and life experiences. I work to create a trusting relationship where we can explore your difficulties and improve your life. Many of the people I work with are quite thoughtful and accomplished but they are not happy. They feel that they could benefit from personal inquiry into the problems of living that they are experiencing. Having complex emotions and struggles is normal. It is an aspect of life. But it’s best not to live with it all alone. We need to express our grief, confusion and fear, and we need someone to listen, to respond and to empathize.
I am an engaging, down to earth therapist with over 35 years experience. I work within several psychotherapeutic modalities that I adapt depending on my client’s needs and character, including psychoanalytic therapy, interpersonal and relational psychotherapy and cognitive/behavioral therapy.
Psychotherapy is a place where it is ok to have your feelings- whatever, as confused, painful or overwhelming as they are. But it’s best not to live with it all alone- it’s best to talk about it, to share it with an ally who can help you to figure it out, move on, and build a happy, productive and enjoyable life. That’s what psychotherapy is all about.
