I am a licensed and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The number one goal for my patients is to maintain trust through empowerment and education. I will listen to their concerns with a deeper appreciation to set expectations that will form the framework for treatment and education based on their individual strength. I encourage my patients to be partners in their care and together we can manage their challenges for a positive outcome and a fulfilling happy life.
I'm warm, pleasant, knowledgeable, professional, efficient and approachable.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety and depression, including overthinking, low motivation, feeling overwhelmed, and a loss of interest in daily life. Many come in feeling mentally exhausted or stuck in patterns that aren’t working. I work with adults of all ages, with a strong understanding of early adulthood and life transitions like career stress, relationships, and pressure to “figure things out.” I help you understand what’s going on and move forward with a clear, realistic plan.
I specialize in treating anxiety and depression using a modern, straightforward, and collaborative approach. I focus on clear explanations, practical strategies, and medication management when appropriate. Treatment is tailored to your life, with the goal of helping you feel better in a way that’s effective and sustainable.
Starting can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unsure where to begin. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood and supported, while also giving you clarity and direction. If you’re ready to feel better and make meaningful changes, I’m here to help.
Dr. Chihombori-Quao (CHEE-hom-bow-REE KWOW) is a psychiatrist with dual board certification in Psychiatry and Family Medicine who delivers compassionate, multidisciplinary, and trauma-informed care via tele-health in California.
She graduated from Yale School of Medicine in 2018 and completed residency in UC Davis’ selective Combined Family Medicine and Psychiatry Residency in 2023. Since then, she has continued to work in numerous settings including Public Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Correctional Psychiatry.
When she’s not enjoying her life’s work, she enjoys music, dancing, volleyball, basketball, and spending time with her family and pets (she devotes a significant amount of time to petting animals!).
I believe therapy and psychiatric care should feel human, not clinical, rushed, or impersonal. My goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported from the very first conversation. I take time to understand your story, your values, and what you want your life to look like, not just your symptoms.
I bring over a decade of experience working in mental health and addiction, and I use a balanced approach that blends evidence-based treatment with compassion and real connection. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all care. Your treatment is collaborative, flexible, and designed to support long-term growth, not just short-term relief.
Above all, you should know that you will not be treated like a diagnosis. You will be treated like a person.
Hi! I am a board certified DNP-PMHNP-BC. I started my career in traditional health practices as a Fulbright Scholar in Sochi, Russia. I presented my research at the US Embassy in Moscow. Following the completion of my grant I attended New York University (NYU). From there I completed a residency at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Following this I entered and completed my doctorate at USD University of San Diego, California with a focus on digital telehealth treatment for psychiatric care. I have a passion for working with the veteran population and those seeking care outside the box. I recently completed my facilitation for psychadelic assisted therapy and have an additional practice in Denver, Colorado. I enjoy yoga, swimming and all the water sports!
